Totilas – der Ritt

A TV live recording was the starting point for this dance solo, in which the dancer and choreographer Paul Hess traces back the tragic last kur of the dressage wonder stallion Totilas. Aligned to the comments of the original soundtrack of the TV report Paul Hess adapts the movements of the dressage animal creatively and sensitively from four hoofs to two dancer legs.

The tamed stallion in the man? Though this piece firstly appears as comical the experienced* dancer also questions the spirit of man and animal. His several times awarded choreography reflects this thought elegantly, amusingly, profoundly, glamorously, thrillingly and with a beastly discipline.

Comment of the festival team:

Brevity is the soul of wit – seven minutes which pack a punch!
A choreographic and dance wise spot landing.

The dancer who learned at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen, worked among others with the choreographers Anna Konjetzky, Micha Purucker, Malou Airaudo, Jerome Bel, Mark Sieczkarek, Daniel Goldin, Susanne Linke and Pina Bausch.
