Pregnant?!

After the festival opening with the Head of Cultural Affairs, Marianne Grosse (8 pm), we will start the festival programme with Mamoru Iriguchis Performance Pregnant?!”

10 years later and still pregnant?!
As early as the first Festival in the year 2009 the Japanese-British performer and set designer Mamoru Iriguchi impressed the pad spectators with his funny, confusing production Pregnant?! Since then, the festival program was enriched by his great performances for many times. Iriguchi opens the tenth anniversary with his iconic performance of that time. So we start the festival where it once began.

By using charming video animations, the trained zoologist takes the audience on a ridiculous journey around and inside his imaginary uterus. In his known adorable and hilarious way, the performer deconstructs the typical gender images and creates a crazy parallel universe full of absurd pregnancies, parasitic symbioses and stories about intimate relationships to rabbits. In this special, cartoonlike Lecture-Performance artist and projections merge into a congenial masterpiece, which is bizarre and at the same time truly comical.
