When will we meet again?- Staging   (Performance und Party)

An international collaboration by pad, Schmitt&Schulz and Kassandra Production.

January 2022: Three performers, one VJ – a pandemic. All at home in front of the computer with many open questions: Is performance art online working? Is it possible to solve the world problems in a performative video meeting? And…when will we meet again? Eight months later, the four finally meet live.

Were they successful? What problems remain? Can art ever make the world a better place? And who defines what is ´better´? Can it even be done with four people, or doesn’t it take much more?

In their international collaboration, Schmitt&Schulz (Mainz) and Kassandra Production (Denmark) investigate which artistic strategies are necessary to initiate social change.

In the process, they become entangled in contradictions, engage in fruitless discussions about optimal approaches, and search desperately for allies – this all leads, after entertaining loops and detours, to one big live performance party. Because there are always good reasons to get together and celebrate. Or not?

This year, for the first time, we ourselves are also part of the festival’s program as performers with our own production. We look forward to this exciting challenge!

Annika B. Lewis has been a guest at the pad many times! The wish to perform together with her we already carry for a long time now, and are very happy that finally it worked out this year!
