In her autobiographical solo performance I EKHO I, the young dancer and choreographer Mariëlle kleyn Winkel charmingly captures the ambivalent relationship between her family and her unconventional career choice.
After an intense and turbulent period abroad, Mariëlle moved back to the Netherlands. Torn between her bizarre artist’s existence and the peaceful dutch country life of her family, she quickly takes on the role of the goldfish – a symbol of the petty-bourgeois in us? In a sometimes rather turbulent combination of dance and theater, the artist wriggles and floats on an otherwise almost empty stage, taking the audience into her contradictory world.
