In June last year, we presented Manuela Hartel’s video performance concert evening as an absolute program highlight. Now she’s back at the pad, this time with her new, coherent program “There is no time”, consisting of seven episodes:
As if being in a peep box, the performer stands in the midst of a fairytale-like world that is projected on a large screen in the middle of the stage like a backdrop of stages composed like a collage of individual picture elements. The performing acts in front of the screen, sings live and moves as the protagonist in her own film. Film magic and theatrical space overlap and the spoken and sung lyrics create an additional special atmosphere on a narrative level.
AZ München: “The magic bag filled with stage and computer art is an effective action against the omnipresent hectic rush and stress (…) of seven episodes, in which the performer, together with her fascinated audience, lets herself be flushed out of any sense of time. (…) Often amazement, often amazing, the performances of Manuela Hartel and her soprano Elisabeth Daiker melodiously supported live singing with the digital image and sound production merge into an impressive piece on the way to the romantic idea of the performance as a whole.”
